📖 Über Aluminium
The most abundant metal in Earth's crust and the third most abundant element overall. Despite this, aluminium was once more valuable than gold because it was so difficult to extract. The Washington Monument has an aluminium tip, placed in 1884 when it was a precious metal. The Hall-Heroult process (1886) made mass production possible.
