📖 Über Chlorine

A toxic yellow-green gas with a distinctive sharp smell. In World War I, chlorine gas was used as a chemical weapon, causing horrific casualties. Despite this dark history, chlorine is also essential for water purification and is the basis of PVC plastic. Sodium chloride (table salt) is its most famous compound.
