📖 Über Magnesium
The eighth most abundant element in Earth's crust and essential to life. It sits at the center of every chlorophyll molecule, making photosynthesis possible. Magnesium burns with an intensely bright white flame, historically used in photography flash. It is the lightest structural metal used in engineering.
🔧 Verwendungen und Anwendungen
- Lightweight alloys for aircraft and cars
- Center of chlorophyll (photosynthesis)
- Fireworks and flares (bright white flame)
- Antacids and laxatives
- Dietary supplement
💡 Wusstest du?
Fakt: Magnesium burns so hot (around 3100 C) that it will continue burning underwater and in CO2, making conventional fire extinguishers useless or even dangerous on magnesium fires. Sand or dry powder must be used instead.
